Liminal Figures
Liminal Figures is a collaborative publication that commemorates the ways we have embraced transitional phases in our lives and navigated a state of liminality … we celebrate design’s capacity to illuminate that which is in the process of becoming and shaping our interconnected future.
It should then come as no surprise that our work coalesces around the intersection of design and transformation. Through a diverse range of methods and contexts, our capstone research confronts the intricate process of becoming. The work documented here examines design’s ability to transform physical space, how the spaces we inhabit impact our design practices, and opportunities to communicate personal histories and metamorphoses through the structural modes of graphic design.
My spreads further explore my research topic: visualizing the subconscious. Risograph prints showcased hand-drawn elements from The Dream Journal as well as a mind map of the initial project planning stages.
We celebrated the launch of our publication at South End Brewing Co. in Boone, NC. Friends, family, professors, and colleagues were invited to look through copies of the book.
